Northern Norway Fairytale

From the moment we decided we were going to visit Norway, I kept falling more and more in love with this Scandinavian pearl. Strange as it may seem, it was actually the Coronavirus situation that encouraged me to travel to Norway. The idea of being there almost alone (Norway has been very strict with allowing tourists to enter during COVID-19 pandemics), along with lower prices (for that same reason) turned out to be a total winner. Following up on our northern Norway road trip I am going to answer the basic questions like how much does travel to Norway cost, how many days you need to visit Lofoten, must-see places in Lofoten, where to stay, renting a car vs. camper […]

Top 5 things to do in Senja island, Norway

I bet that over 90% of the people who want to visit Norway, don’t know anything about Senja. I was one of them as well, until I read a few blogs about Lofoten, mostly from local people. All of them had one thing in common: Senja is just as beautiful as Lofoten but far less crowded. If you want to have a perfect trip to Northern Norway, Senja island is not to be missed. On one hand it might not take too much of your time (you can always just pass by and make a few stopovers). But on the other hand you just might fall in love with it and want to come back. Like we did. In this […]

Top things to do in Tromso, Norway

Whether you are traveling to northern Norway to see the Lofoten islands or Europe’s northernmost point Nordkapp, you will most likely end up in or pass by Tromso. With its location (over 300 km North of the Arctic Circle), relatively mild stable weather and good connections, Tromso is also one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. The city stands on the island of Tromsoya and it is connected to the mainland by Tromso Bridge and Tromsoysund tunnel. The position on the island, surrounded by sea, fjords and hills, together with its cozy downtown atmosphere, make Tromso an attractive stopover. We spent 2 days in this “Arctic capital of Norway” during our northern Norway road […]

Hotel review: Radisson Blu Hotel Tromso (Tromso, Norway)

After we had finally decided that our Norway road trip to Lofoten islands would start in Tromso, I started searching for a hotel in the city center. At first, I hesitated whether to book a hotel in Tromso at all, because we wanted to stay flexible. The weather in Norway can be stubborn and our plan was to “follow the sun”. But since the 10-day forecast looked very promising, we agreed to stay in Tromso, also known as “Venice of the North”, the first and the last day of our trip.

Dubrovnik in 2 days

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, nature lover or just chasing UNESCO World Heritage sites, Dubrovnik will eventually land on your bucket list. This ancient city, also known as Kings Landing and the Pearl of Adriatic, is one of the most beautifully preserved medieval cities in Europe. I have visited Dubrovnik twice: first time a couple of years ago in May, and second time this July, during the infamous COVID-19 pandemics. It was a two nights stay in both cases and this is enough to explore the city. In this post you will find “Dubrovnik in 2 days” itinerary, together with prices and practical tips for Dubrovnik first-timers.

Top things to do in Tržič, Slovenia

There is a saying in Slovenia that goes something like: “Nothing that comes from Tržič is good, not even the wind”. Well, there is always some truth in local jokes, can’t argue with that. Tržič is probably the last place that comes to your mind if you want to visit Slovenia. And I can’t blame you – the town itself is nothing special. However, if you want to visit Gorenjska region, Tržič just might be the place to settle down for a couple of days. After all, it is less than 30 minutes’ drive from Ljubljana airport, hence a good starting point to visit Bled, Bohinj, Kranjska Gora and Triglav National park. Whether you want to explore its surroundings, or […]

Top things to do in Lovran, Croatia

If you want to visit Croatian coast but don’t want to drive too far south, spending a week or two in Kvarner bay is also a good option. In this post I will focus on Lovran, a small town in Opatija Riviera, which has just as much to offer as any other town in Croatian coastline. Especially if waiting in line for the ferry to one of the Kvarner islands is not your cup of tea. This charming little town has almost become my second home now, at least when it comes to sunny weekends, when I want to catch some vitamin sea. So, I will be happy to share top things to do in Lovran, where to stay, best […]
