After we had finally decided that our Norway road trip to Lofoten islands would start in Tromso, I started searching for a hotel in the city center. At first, I hesitated whether to book a hotel in Tromso at all, because we wanted to stay flexible. The weather in Norway can be stubborn and our plan was to “follow the sun”. But since the 10-day forecast looked very promising, we agreed to stay in Tromso, also known as “Venice of the North”, the first and the last day of our trip.
Resort Review: Poseidon Mobile Home Resort (Makarska, Croatia)
We fell in love in Makarska Riviera during last September trip and since we are limited with traveling during COVID-19 pandemics we chose to come back this Summer for a short vacation. The “coronavirus” situation in Croatia has forced a lot of hotels to shut down their business (at least temporarily), hence deciding where to stay in Makarska Riviera was rather easy. After narrowing our options to: pet-friendly, close to the beach, close to Makarska old town, free parking, breakfast included, air-condition, free Wi-Fi and excellent ratings, the choice was obvious. We booked Poseidon Mobile Home Resort for 3 nights and we didn’t regret it even for a second.
Hotel Review: Vagabond Hotel Miami (Miami, Florida, USA)
Before you start looking for a hotel in Miami, you need to know that Miami is huge. Hence, you need to decide what is your priority: price or location. If you are in Miami only for the weekend, you will probably want to stay on South Beach (SoBe) neighborhood where the prices are steeper than in the mainland city of Miami. On the other hand, hotels in Downtown Miami also don’t come cheap, especially in times of events like important NBA basketball game, concert or exhibition. Luckily, Miami offers good public transport options, so if you don’t want to spend a fortune for a decent mid-range hotel, search for hotels within a few miles range. One of very good choices […]
Guest house review: Hout & About Guest House (Hout Bay, South Africa)
Where to stay in Cape Town if you have 5 days to spend in this gorgeous city? I was struggling with this question for quite a while. I didn’t want to stay in the hustle and bustle of the city center and I didn’t want to stay too far from all the sightseeing spots that were on our bucket list. So, according to the map Hout Bay seemed as the obvious choice. There are quite a few good rated accommodations in Hout Bay so it was quite a challenge to decide which one to pick. Hout & About Guest House had perfect reviews of the rooms, as well as breakfast, which is very important in my survival book. We gave […]
Hotel Review: The Magnaura Palace Hotel (Istanbul, Turkey)
If you are traveling to Istanbul for the first time you will probably want to stay somewhere in the historical part of the city. While you cannot miss a lot with narrowing down your choice to Sultanahmed area, it is always great to aim for that cherry on the top of the cake. In my case that was the view from the terrace – I wanted the view of Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque. And since I stayed in a 3-star hotel in Istanbul a couple of months ago (I wasn’t happy with my choice), I wanted an upgrade this time. The Magnaura Palace hotel reviews promised to deliver it all, so I decided to give it a go.
Hotel review: Bluesun hotel Afrodita (Tučepi, Croatia)
We have passed by Makarska Riviera several times but never found the time so stop there for couple of days and just enjoy what it has to offer. This September we decided to make a long weekend escape from Slovenia, combining some outdoor activities (hiking and bicycling) and catching some vitamin D on the beach. The primary goal was to be located on the beach and close to Biokovo National Park, which was the starting point for the bicycle tour. While I was hesitating between a rich offer of cheaper private apartments and rooms (September is not that crowded anymore), I rather chose a hotel in Tučepi with a higher standard of comfort and fantastic location. Here is my review […]
Resort review: Vuyani Safari Lodge (Hoedspruit, South Africa)
After the decision about safari in South Africa has finally been made, I started harassing different lodges near Kruger National Park with my ultimate question: “Will I see the lions?” While some owners didn’t even bother to respond, the majority of others told me that they couldn’t guarantee lion encounter. The manager from Vuyani Safari Lodge was a bit more specific: “I can’t guarantee you will see lions; however, our guests are usually very lucky.” I already had my eyes on this property due to their good Tripadvisor rating and great sense of humor on their web page and social media accounts. Having discussed the details with Bernard was the ultimate deal breaker, so I booked 5 days in Vuyani […]
