Whether you are traveling to northern Norway to see the Lofoten islands or Europe’s northernmost point Nordkapp, you will most likely end up in or pass by Tromso. With its location (over 300 km North of the Arctic Circle), relatively mild stable weather and good connections, Tromso is also one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. The city stands on the island of Tromsoya and it is connected to the mainland by Tromso Bridge and Tromsoysund tunnel. The position on the island, surrounded by sea, fjords and hills, together with its cozy downtown atmosphere, make Tromso an attractive stopover. We spent 2 days in this “Arctic capital of Norway” during our northern Norway road trip and here are top things to do in Tromso in Summer. I am only going to focus on places that are less than one-hour drive from Tromso.
Severna Norveška z Lofoti in Senjo – Potovanje (2. del)
Hotel review: Radisson Blu Hotel Tromso (Tromso, Norway)
After we had finally decided that our Norway road trip to Lofoten islands would start in Tromso, I started searching for a hotel in the city center. At first, I hesitated whether to book a hotel in Tromso at all, because we wanted to stay flexible. The weather in Norway can be stubborn and our plan was to “follow the sun”. But since the 10-day forecast looked very promising, we agreed to stay in Tromso, also known as “Venice of the North”, the first and the last day of our trip.
Dubrovnik in 2 days
If you are a Game of Thrones fan, nature lover or just chasing UNESCO World Heritage sites, Dubrovnik will eventually land on your bucket list. This ancient city, also known as Kings Landing and the Pearl of Adriatic, is one of the most beautifully preserved medieval cities in Europe. I have visited Dubrovnik twice: first time a couple of years ago in May, and second time this July, during the infamous COVID-19 pandemics. It was a two nights stay in both cases and this is enough to explore the city. In this post you will find “Dubrovnik in 2 days” itinerary, together with prices and practical tips for Dubrovnik first-timers.
Top things to do in Biokovo Nature park, Croatia
.After spending a couple of wonderful days in Makarska last September (and due to the limited number of countries we are allowed to visit due to COVID-19), we agreed to repeat the trip this Summer. We especially loved Biokovo Nature park, so this time we decided to visit it on foot, by car and by bicycle. What can I say, laying on the beach all day is just not our thing. 😉 If you are wondering whether Biokovo Nature park is worth seeing and if you would like a few tips on how to make the most of your visit, read on.
Resort Review: Poseidon Mobile Home Resort (Makarska, Croatia)
We fell in love in Makarska Riviera during last September trip and since we are limited with traveling during COVID-19 pandemics we chose to come back this Summer for a short vacation. The “coronavirus” situation in Croatia has forced a lot of hotels to shut down their business (at least temporarily), hence deciding where to stay in Makarska Riviera was rather easy. After narrowing our options to: pet-friendly, close to the beach, close to Makarska old town, free parking, breakfast included, air-condition, free Wi-Fi and excellent ratings, the choice was obvious. We booked Poseidon Mobile Home Resort for 3 nights and we didn’t regret it even for a second.
